Marie Distasio

Marie Distasio: owner

"In life, you are given one body; never forget that. Love it, challenge it, and push past your limits."

Marie is a BASI Certified Pilates Instructor, she has been teaching Pilates for 10 years. Marie first found Pilates while training for a half marathon. After becoming injured during training, a physical therapist recommended including Pilates throughout her training to help correct some of the imbalances she was experiencing. Once she gave it a try she was hooked! Marie loves the way Pilates compliments fitness and creates a body awareness and strength that no other form of exercise does. In addition to being a Pilates instructor, she has experience as a Personal Trainer, cycling instructor and certified TRX instructor. Marie believes in focusing on more than just one type of exercise and likes to keep her clients guessing by providing experiences that are challenging, different and most importantly, fun.

Julia first discovered Pilates as a teenager while cross-training for her ballet performances at her local theatre in Ashtabula, Ohio. Julia’s roots are in classical ballet, and entered her first semester of college as a ballet major at the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music. However, while living in New York City, she dug deeper into the world of Pilates after suffering from bilateral knee pain. After taking her first reformer class in her Brooklyn neighborhood, she immediately fell in love with the exercise and was amazed at how great it made her knee joints feel. Julia holds a comprehensive Pilates certification in both mat and equipment from Gramercy Pilates in NYC. She has experience teaching both private and group sessions at multiple facilities throughout New York, including a physical therapy clinic that specializes in orthopedic injuries and pelvic floor rehab. She loves to challenge her clients by incorporating a strong mind-body connection while also keeping the classes fun and engaging. When not in the Pilates and dance studios, she also enjoys various outdoor activities such as hiking, backpacking, kayaking and running. Julia is so excited to be back in her home city of Cleveland teaching what she loves!

Rena

Reina: Studio mascot

Rena's Motto: "life is short, live every moment to the fullest"

Reina was introduced to Pilates in 2018 when owner, Marie DiStasio started bringing her to Ab&Flow. With her happy and sweet demeanor she immediately became a permanent fixture as Ab&Flow's Mascot, bringing smiles to clients faces as they walk in the door. Reina takes her job as greeter seriously, welcoming all our clients as they enter the studio. You can also find her in the window keeping a lookout and making fur-friends with pups that walk by.

When Reina is not "working" she is training to become a Therapy Dog, which she puts to good use at the studio for whoever may need a little extra encouragement. Reina is just as active as our clients; she loves going for runs along the lake, chasing birds and taking agility classes.
